INTRODUCTION TO SAMADHI:
All the similarities among all civilizations are telling us that it was a common source. It was SAMADHI. That is why meditation was practiced by all cultures of the world.
THE INNER KNOWLEDGE.
We have to understand the importance of science. Actually, modern science is getting closer than modern religions to understand the intelligence behind everything. While religions push us to dogmas science pushes to find what is beyond our eyes.
Real science does not accept dogmas and it must be opened to whatever the facts or evidences take us. Both, religion and science are looking for the ultimate truth. Both are important. Remember: YOGA IS A PHILOSOPHY AND A SCIENCE, IT IS A SPIRITUAL SCIENCE.
A real yogi goes far beyond the mind and he achieves Samadhi to get Self-Knowledge, the knowledge from Atman. The knowledge that Socrates, Plato, Pythagoras, Moses, Buddha, Christ and all those great philosopher and sages of all civilizations grabbed.
THE UNIVERSE WITHIN YOURSELF!
Atman is the root of that intelligence, meditation is the technique to experiment Samadhi, that is the state where you r soul, free from regular thoughts and human emotions, becomes one with Atman. One way to explain this is picturing a drop of water falling into the ocean. Where is the drop after that? There is not drop, but a huge ocean full of life. Samadhi is that!
Samadhi is a state beyond the mind. The mind needs to be trained and tamed before achieving Samadhi. The mind has being programmed by our parents, teachers, society, etc. How can you be objective if you are already programmed? Samadhi is beyond those programs. When a person reaches Samadhi he finds himself/herself. You are not the programs of the mind; your nature is a mystery to yourself. You have to find it beyond all your beliefs. Samadhi is that state where you are really you way far beyond all your programs and beliefs.
There is a macro universe and we all have an idea of it. Nevertheless, there is a micro universe within us. Hermes said: << As above so below>>
All the wonders of the big universe are within our own universe. All the laws and principles of the macro universe are within us. All sages had spoken about all that already. Nevertheless, people’s mind was not ready to understand them, so ancient wise men used metaphors, myths and legends to explain their wisdom is some way.
The source of real wisdom is Atman, the Inner Father, the Father who is in secrecy. Samadhi is the state where anyone can reach that wisdom through Atman. But whoever wants that wisdom must be really patient, he/she most persevered a long time and be very humble. Real wisdom is not for people full of vanity.
We can study the inner universe and find all the laws of the outside universe within us. The main obstacle for this enterprise is the programmed mind.
THE EXPERIENCE OF SAMADHI.
Explaining the Samadhi is a hard situation because the yogi has to explain what is beyond words. Only through metaphors it can be explained.
This is a way:
The experience of Samadhi is like bringing a drop of water to the ocean. The drop of water is the soul and the ocean is Atman. Now let the drop of water fall into the ocean and, after that, look for the little single drop. Where is it? Now it is everywhere! Now it is not a single drop, but millions of it making one single ocean. There is not a single drop any longer, but a whole ocean.
The soul becomes one with Atman when both get together. All the power and wisdom and love of Atman is experimented by the soul of the yogi.
Nevertheless, after the experience of Samadhi is finished then Atman and the soul are separated back again. The soul needs to experiment this more and more until one day it really becomes one with the Inner Father. That is what Buddha, Jesus and all the great ancient Masters did.
Explaining Atman is not easy at all either. Why? Because he is beyond the body and the mind. All great sages had to use metaphors to explain him too.
This is one:
One Zen Master was asked by his disciple: <What it he being (Atman)? >> His Master told him to pick up a seed that was by his foot. The he told his disciple to open it. After that he asked: << What is inside? >> The monk replied that nothing was inside. Then the great Master said: << That is the Being. >>
SAMADHI AND REALITY!
Well, in that case where the soul was before coming into existence. It was in the non-existence. Both (Existence and non-existence) are part of Brahma. Think of a coin; it has two sides. You can see one side at a time; but not both. The soul either is in the non-existence realm or in the existence realm.
Reality is far beyond our imagination. The experience of Samadhi is far beyond the mind and it is the experience of reality. Reality here has a deeper meaning. The experience of Samadhi goes far from our own and selfish way to think or feel.
Those selfish thoughts and feelings are the cause of the separation between Atman and us. Those thoughts and feelings are the cause of all pain and suffering on the planet.
Samadhi is a state of total calmness, peace, love and compassion. A state where the yogi sees things beyond his/her own way of thinking or feeling. It is said the yogi sees all his/her acts as if someone else were doing it. So, he becomes an observer beyond judgment.
The yogi sees everything as it is, not as he/she thought it would be. The firs way is the way of a real yogi, a way beyond conditions and human limitations. The second way is our way, the way we see everything without the power of Samadhi.
