STRESS: SOURCE OF FRUSTRATION AND SUFFERING.
Many things, not everything, are getting worst and harder. You cannot trust people so easy. We always have a worry or two, or three or... you understand. Many people suffer from depression and/or anxiety. We do not have a normal life where we live without worries or frustrations. We need to learn to be happy, to enjoy the present, to enjoy our family, etc. We are holding this stress day after day, over and over. That makes things worst. But the good news is that we can reduce stress quickly with a few techniques that we will show you.
The first thing is to understand that you can make a change if you really want. Nobody can do it for you. If you want something different you have to fight for it. Stress attacks the mind and it goes later into the body. That stress you are feeling in the neck or back comes from the mind. It is, the way we think is creating stress. That is the first thing to understand.
Let us attack the physical stress first and then the mental stress later. Please read the whole article to understand things better.
PHYSICAL TECHNIQUES TO REDUCE STRESS.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CHECK WITH A PHYSICIAN BEFORE ANY YOGA PRACTICE, SPECIALLY IF YOU SUFFER FROM CONSTANT BODY PAIN. We do not ant you to get worst, but to reduce stress. Please, remember I am not doctor, but a yogi. You need to talk to your doctor to avoid any problem.
Now let me explain the exercises:
EXERCISE NUMBER ONE (YOGA POSES)
This should be the hardest on this exercise, you can avoid it and skip to asana #2. That is not a problem.
1- Kneel down
2- Slowly and gentle bring your back backward
3- Hold yourself with the hands leaning on the floor.
4- Stay like this for a few seconds.
If you think you cannot do this skip it.
I do not recommend this for a person who has not experience on this kind of exercises or for a person who is old.
please take precautions. if you need any kind of hardware then get one or just skip it.
1- Now bring your body forward.
2- your arms extended pulling froward
(See the red arrow)
3- Your head on the mat or floor.
4- Stay like that (Pulling your hands froward) for a few seconds.
1- Now lift your head up
2- Push your jhips down (Arrow #1)
3- Move your head backward gentlely
4- Stay for a few seconds.
1- Now kneel down.
2- Hold your hands together.
3- Turn your chest and back to the left.
4- Pull your right hand with your left hand.
1- Now come to the center.
2- Turn your chest and back to the right.
3- Pull your left hand with your right hand.
Now repeat the whole exercise at least three times,
five for a better result..
Please be gentle. No need to do it hard or strong.
Remember to avoid Asana #1 if you feel like
it is too much for you.
If it does not work for you then try other exercises (Please check Yoga for stressful jobs, link at the bottom). But if nothing works then you really need to go to your doctor. Please do so.
Life is too stressful and even yogis get stress. The matter is to keep fighting and keep the right attitude toward life.I will share other exercises and techniques to fight stress.
EXERCISE #2: EXERCISE, SHOWER AND PRANAYAMA.
When you need time and you do not have it, then you have to do whatever is possible. Doing yoga and meditation might take some time, then we need to be more specific sometimes. Well, I was taking 30 minutes to get rip of that stress to feel relaxed and happy.
Just after coming from work I was practicing this:
1- Running for 10 minutes.
2- Shower 10 minutes (Yes, it is a quick shower)
3- Pranayama 10 minutes.
You can go to run outside (At he park, at the beach, etc.) or on a treadmill (Specially in winter). Running is really good to relax the body and take stress off. some people say I will go to practice meditation to take my stress off; certainly, you cannot meditate under stress. You do the opposite: First do some exercises (Cardiovascular exercises like running) then you can focus on your meditation. Yes, meditation can relax your body, but when it is full of stress you need to do the opposite.
A quick shower is fine. A longer one is better, but we are talking about not having time and the need to reduce our stress quickly, that is why it is recommended a short shower. Let the magic of water do its work and you will come out different.
Pranayamas are breathing exercises to boost your energy. When this energy moves freely the body relax itself. Stress makes the atom to vibrate in a very low frequency. these breathing exercises make the atoms to vibrate faster and that makes the body to go into relaxation mode. That helps a lot to reduce stress. There are several techniques. Some people really make a very complex subject about pranayamass; I prefer to keep things simple. Yoga and meditation are simple. The mind makes them complex. What technique did I practice? Please see link at the bottom: How to do pranayamas.
all these exercises really work, but you need to do each of them properly. This is why having someone to explain in person is a lot better. I try my best to explain them here and I really hope all this help you.
