CONTROLLING OUR EMOTIONS?
Yoga is a way of life, a way to be healthy and to keep you young. It has techniques and practices to improve your physical body, your mind and emotions. Yoga is far beyond mere asanas because it has great ideas from its philosophy and practices from its science.
The world is far from being peaceful! Violence is everywhere: Home, school, office, mall, park, church, etc. We are coming to a very simple conclusion: WE CANNOT LIVE FAR FROM NATURE. ACTUALLY, WE NEED TO GET CLOSER TO NATURE. We are understanding that, beyond any theory or belief, something is missing in our lives.
How can we build a better world when it is full of violence, hatred, racism, etc.? The answer is simple: There is no way! We need to start seeing in the opposite direction. We need to watch ourselves, instead of watching others.
People are worry about their physical health, but the root of it is within us. Anger, hatred, violence and all the negative emotions that people are carrying within will come outside sooner or later. Stress triggers all kind of negative responses in society.
Education is really important; but we need to learn to control our human emotions. Having a good knowledge in our brain is fantastic; but if we cannot control ourselves then we will mess our life and the lives of other people.
On the news was a sad story. This man had his music really loud. His neighbor came to tell him to lower the volume to the music. He was told to wait a minute. The guy, inside of the house, came out with a gun and shoots him to death. How can that be possible? I bet he was full of stress. If we add that he was not able to control himself then we can see the outcome of such stress!
We hear on the news similar things very often. A person kills for something superficial. The interesting part is when the reporter asks, to one of the neighbors of the criminal, to describe the murderer. We hear something like: He was a calmed person, quiet, shy, intelligent, etc. They are not describing a violent person or someone with a bad reputation! What is going on? Here again, we see a combination of stress and lack of control.

“HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A woman who shot and killed her two young grandsons before committing suicide last year left a note to the boys' parents saying they did not deserve to have the children, according to a police report.”

Well, this happens every day at a different scale. People lose their control and they end up either fighting or arguing. Here again, we see stress and lack of control of the emotions. We need to control our emotions to develop emotional health. How can we do that?
NEGATIVE EMOTIONS ARE REALLY DANGEROUS!
It is great to be positive and to cultivate positive thoughts; but we cannot forget that we all have those emotions. If we had not then we were not humans. So do not feel bad if you have them; but controlling them is really helpful to have a better life.
Negative emotions destroy relationships of any kind. A good friend might endure our bad habits and negative emotions; but sooner or later they might get tired. Nobody likes people who always show negative emotions. Not even our parents tolerate them.
People full of anger, for example, are not welcome to any place. Such people should find help. Anger management is helpful for people who cannot control that kind of emotions. The American Psychological Association might give you great advices.
The good news is that stress can be controlled. If stress is controlled then negative emotions can be controlled too. One of the best ways to reduce stress is exercising. I really recommend running. Controlling stress can help a lot to make you feel better and to improve your life. Moreover, your mood will improve and your relationships too.
Emotional health is really important in our lives. People worry too much about the physical health and the nutrition of the body; but they forget that we are not just a body. They forget the importance of our emotions and how to feed our soul.
INTELLECTUAL INTELLIGENCE VS EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.
Which one is the most important? Well, actually both are important. We need to have a balance on both.
If a person has a really nice intellectual intelligence; but he/she lacks emotions intelligence then that person has a big problem. Why? Because that person will not be able to control his emotions and therefore he/she will act with anger, or impatience, or arrogance. What is the problem? He/she will destroy relationships and trust. That is a big problem.
If a person lacks intellectual intelligence; but he/she has a high emotional intelligence then that person might succeed because of his/her charisma. The way you treat others is more important than the intellectual data. Believe it or not charisma is more important than all the knowledge you have.
When you have problems friends can help you better than your data. In real life it is more important who knows you than what you know. A friend can recommend you; but you might have it really hard when you are alone with a lot of data or knowledge without someone promoting you.
The more charismatic you are the more friends you have. The more arrogant or angry you are the fewer friends you will have.
Intellectual data is great and really helpful once you have the job; but before having that job a friend can be more important.
The best is when a person has both: Intellectual and emotional Intelligence. The problem here is this: You will find many places where they can give you data for your brain; but not many places to develop emotional intelligence!
Think about a manager with both of them; a person who knows a lot and, at the same time, is humble and charismatic. I bet that would be a really successful person in life!
The bottom line is this: We need both intelligences. If you already have one then try to get the other one. Getting intellectual data is more or less easy; but getting control of the emotions is not that easy. We had to learn that when kids; but usually we had not.
A leader with both intelligences will have a lot fewer problems with the person who he/she leads. A leader without intellectual intelligence will have more problems; but if the leader lacks emotional intelligence then he/she will have a lot of problems with the persons who he/she leads. The reason is simple: Without emotional intelligence a person lacks control of the way he/she speaks and acts!
Well, how can we develop emotional intelligence? Emotional intelligence comes when you have emotional health. So, how can I get emotional health?
TIPS TO GET EMOTIONAL HEALTH:
The real matter is not what you see outside, but what you have inside. The ancient wisdom says: “AS ABOVE SO BELOW.” Immanuel Kant, the great German philosopher said: “The exterior is the reflection of the interior.”
We need to work on our interior to change the exterior. We need to organize our mind and emotions to get emotional health. Yes, whatever comes from outside hits our mind and emotions; but if we change the way we think and feel then the effect will change too.
The first step is to get good and positive ideas. Here is where a good philosophy can help us to live better.

We need to learn how to live without stress because it triggers many negative emotions.

Having emotional health is a need and it is possible if we follow a proper guide or proper instructions. There is no need to live under stress or to be anxious or to get into depression. We are entitled to a better life; but we have to work on it.
It is really important to develop gratitude and appreciation because they are superior emotions; they are stronger than selfishness. Both, gratitude and appreciation, brings altruism and they together can build a better world because they are part of love. Nobody, but you, can improve your own life. Nobody can force you to do so. The same way, you cannot force anyone to do so. We just need to start and spread the news everywhere and to everyone because WE ALL ARE ONE!
That simple idea that we are one is enough to encourage any human being with a good heart. What is the color of our soul? What country was our soul born? What language does our soul speak? Our soul is far beyond any human limitation. Our soul comes from the same origin and it has the same rights.
Emotional health is possible when we change the way we are. We deserve a better life, but we have to fight for it.
DEVELOPING POSITIVE EMOTIONS.
Developing positive emotions and positive thoughts is not all. Actually, it is just the beginning of a new way of life! This requires a kind of << METAL DIET. >> That is the capacity to select what you will read. It is not convenient at all to read anything that comes to you. You, as an intelligent being, should choose what is proper and emotional healthy to you.
Watching violence on TV or on the web will not help you to avoid negative emotions. What you really are doing is feeding negative emotions. We need to be exposed to superior emotions. Here is where studying ancient sacred books become important. Those books speak about human values and the virtues of the soul: Patience, benevolence, charity, altruism, forgiveness, caring about others, etc.
It is really good to cultivate positive emotions through action. What do I mean? I mean to do positive things for you or for others. Altruism, charity, being a volunteer develops positive emotions. The sensation of helping others is really great. It makes your energy to flow in your body, your chakras, your inner system and it is spread toward others
Do not be afraid of showing kindness or concern. Think about a world where people are concerned about others, could that be better than the world of selfishness that we have nowadays? Of course, it is a lot better. But it cannot come just from magic, but from working all together to build a better world.
We have to start spreading these ideas; spreading love, harmony and peace. Now are ideas and one day they will be real!
Meditation is the best source of superior emotions. Developing the capacity of meditating on the heart is really great and helpful to develop emotional health.
THE ANAHATA CHAKRA VS THE MANIPURA CHAKRA.
Modern societies are full of violence and the Manipura Chakra is over charged with them. This causes an overflow of stress and many diseases. The Anahata Charka has the power to overcome negative emotions if we meditate on it. When you meditate on your heart then you focus all your attention on it and, at the same time, you picture any great value of the soul: love, forgiveness, kindness, compassion, peace, etc.
It will not be easy because the whole society is rotten with negative emotions. When you try to show positive emotions you are almost alone. Some people do not even understand the reason of showing compassion; but is you are a yogi or yogini your duty is to show that and develop real love for others.
The Manipura Chakra is bombarded with negative emotions day after day. So you should meditate on your heart day after day.
Do not give up because while others are practicing violence and planning to destroy the planet you are learning to bring peace and working on building a better world.
