Our health is affected by the way we feel; therefore tips to improve your mood or make you feel better actually improve your health too. Meditation is great tool to relax the body and even the mind. Sometimes we really need just to unplug our brain from all worries and stress. Guess what? Meditation has the power to reduce your stress, anxiety and even depression; same as yoga does.
2> YOGA ASANAS.
You do not need to do hard asanas, gentle asanas are good enough. Stretching our muscles, especially those we do not use too often, brings relaxation and makes you feel better. After a few minutes, maybe 15 minutes or so, you will notice a difference.
Exercising is great to keep you in shape and to make you feel better. All exercises are good, but cardio exercising is the best for reducing stress, anxiety and depression. Just the fact that you look better makes you feel better. But doing exercising for a few minutes, around 15, will improve your mood.
4> YOGA PHILOSOPHY.
One of the things a yogi learns is to be thankful for whatever he/she has. We all should appreciate what we have and this appreciation makes you thanks for all you have. Usually we focus on what we do not have and this brings frustration; but when we focus on what we really have then things change. It is really important to do this because APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE ARE THE FIRST STEPS TOWARD HAPPINESS.
Yes, it is simple and there are many ways to laugh. Doctors had found out that laughing really improves your health. Some hospitals have clowns to visit kids to make them laugh. So, we need to laugh more often. Nowadays we have the magic of movies and even movie clips to make us laugh.

Feeling mad? Life is not perfect. We all have our ups and downs. Being angry does not solve any problem and usually it makes things worst. So it is not worthy to be mad or angry. So, breathe deeply count while inhaling from one to six and the hold the air counting again form one to six; now exhale counting from one to six. Repeat this process until you feel better. If not then try another tip.
Yes, we all need to get out from the routine and from the work place. Modern life is so mechanical that people are becoming robots; but we are humans and we have the right to relax and go away from the job at least for a few days. Taking vacations is really a need to recharge our batteries. Even better if we travel!
I love traveling and I know how good it is. Expensive? Yes, but it is worthy. Anyway if you do not get out from the office and from that mechanical routine you will pay even more to a doctor sooner or later. So, do not hesitate and go around!
11> MOTHER NATURE.
Nature is wonderful and amazing. We can find everything we need right there. Maybe that is why it is called <<NOTHER NATURE>>. The more we learn from Mother Nature the more we know how good it is. Going to the beach, to a park full of trees, to a mountain or lake, etc. it in fact a therapy for all your senses, for your mind, for your body and for your soul. So, go for a walk for a run or just to be under a beautiful tree to feel better.
Speaking of Mother Nature, gardening is another way of therapy. A person working on his/her garden is not just focusing on what he/she is doing; but actually that person is receiving the benefits of being in contact with nature. Gardening is a good way to relax and get your mind away from regular duties and problems.
13> TAKE A BREAK.
Yes, this is obvious, but it is good to mention it. When you are doing something it is good to take a break if you feel tired. Go for a short walk, stretch, breathe deeply, go for a tea or coffee and the come back to work and you even might do better than before.

14> READING A GOOD BOOK.
A good book to improve your mood is a book that gives you good ideas or tells you how to feel better or encourage you to do things or push you to have positive thoughts, etc. A good book to improve your mood is a book that makes you feel fine and takes out a smile from your face. Reading something interesting helps to improve our mood or just to calm ourselves.
15> HELPING OTHERS.
A person with a good heart always likes to help others. This is a very good habit and it makes you feel better. Some people become volunteers; others make donations. Those things are simple; but the feeling of helping others is always positive and good. Helping others Is part of the philosophy of a yogi.
16> BEING POSITIVE, KEEPING FAITH AND HOPE.
There are times where problems seem to come in group and you do not see the light on the other side of the tunnel. Nevertheless; being pessimist does not help; actually it brings more worries and more frustration. Then trying to be positive, keeping faith and hope help to pass by those negative times.
17> AVOID NEGATIVE THOUGHTS.
Sometimes thoughts become our enemies as in the case above. Well, there is always good to avoid negative thoughts. When the mind does not help then we need something better: Go for a walk, go to a park, listen music, visit a good friend; but avoid thinking of negative things.
There are things that we cannot change. For example: The death of a dear one. Things like that are painful, but there is nothing that we can do about. So, resignation is important during and after something like that. Crying is good to release that emotion of losing somebody or something; but resignation is the best when we cannot change the situation.
19> DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF.
Yes, maybe it was your fault; but do not keep blaming yourself. The best is to learn the lesson and stop from doing the same thing back again. We all are humans and make mistakes; so do not be so hard on you after making a mistake. Life will not stop, so take the best from it.
Feeling sad? Well, music can help you; but singing will increase the emotion. Yes, it has to be your favorite happy song or one which makes you feel hope. Shame? Go to the restroom and sing what you love. Many people sing in the bathroom. Just enjoy the song and feel it.

25> EATING YOUR FAVORITE THING.
Yes, eating helps to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Get your favorite meal or your favorite snack or Ice Cream. Enjoy and forget about diet for a while. No, do not eat unhealthy as a daily basis; but once in a while escape from the routine of a diet. Do not be so hard on you. Do you have a right to enjoy life?
26> PAINTING OR DRAWING, TIME FOR ART.
We all painted something when we were kids. There is a little artist within all us. So, go and create an original painting or a new sketch. Just focus on that and forget about everything else. Believe it or not, painting your house or your room works too. So, that is another alternative.
27> CLEANING THE WORK AREA!
Believe it or not it works! The matter is to get whatever distracts you away from you. Cleaning the work area makes you feel better. When something is messy becomes a chaos and it is harder to find anything. When the work area (Office or home) is clean and organized then things are done with a better aptitude. Usually a person feels rejection when something is chaotic. So clean and organize the work area and smile.

28> SPEAK OUT.
Sometimes is not good to hold something that is really bothering you. You need to take that out. So speak out. When we hold some frustrations and we let them be there and more frustrations come then you might really lose the control sooner or later. The best is to speak as soon as possible, but look for the proper way to do it. First calm down, breathe and wait for the right moment.
29> AVOID DRUGS AND ALCOHOL.
Those addictions do not help to make you feel better. Well, I mean on the long run. They might help you for a moment; but if you do it to run away from problems then you are going on the wrong direction because usually they lead to more addiction and more problems. Under the effect of alcohol, for example, you might say things that are not nice or you might talk about something private to the wrong person. The price could be expensive. It is a lot better to learn to enjoy life without drugs and alcohol.
30> LIVE IN THE PRESENT.
Sometimes we get worry about things that might happen in the future; but you should live in the present. Live day by day; but plan smart. Feeling bad about mistakes done in the past? Well, it is gone. Let those things go. Learn the lesson and move forward! All you really have is this moment, so enjoy your life from moment to moment.

35> LET SMOKING GO!
It could be hard to quit smoking and it could be frustrating in the beginning; but smoking increases the risk of depression plus the risk of heart attack and problems with your lungs. So, on the long run it is a lot better to quit smoking the sooner the better.
36> ORGANIZE YOUR THINGS TO DO!
This is basic and important. Why? Because if you procrastinate then you will have a lot to do and it brings frustration, especially if you need something soon and you cannot finish because you have too much to do. Organization and working go together. You need to prioritize to know what you have to do first and what you can do at the end. Then you work day by day without procrastination. It is better to work hard every day than getting those deadlines pushing you into desperation. Avoid procrastination, be organized and smile because things are under control.
37> MAKE A DONATION!
Believe it or not making donations make people feel better. Why? Because they feel they are helping others and they feel they can do something for others. The sensation of helping others or the sensation of being helpful changes your mood.
38> BECOME A VOLUNTEER!
Here again the sensation of helping others or the sensation of being helpful improves your mood and your health. Some people after retirement and not doing anything positive get into depression, some others just feel useless and they become bitter. Nothing is best than feeling yourself useful. So, becoming a volunteer is a great way to improve your self-esteem and mood.
39> A RELATIONSHIP EXPERT!
Many problems in life are simple, but the mind makes them complex. Sometimes we cannot see the problem and we need someone else to point out what we cannot see. So, consult a relationship expert or get an Interpersonal therapy (IPT). Nothing wrong with it. It does not mean you are not smart enough to handle problems; actually it tells how much you care about your relationship. So, do not worry. We need someone to let us see the light sometimes.
40> VISIT YOUR DOCTOR!
Once you are under depression the help of a doctor is important. But as I said before depression starts just as a simple stress and it gets worst and worst. So do not way till it is late, check with the doctor periodically and if you do not feel good enough.
These are simple tips to improve your mood and they might improve your health as well. In general, doing exercise, yoga and meditation give great results to keep you away from stress. But we are humans and sometimes we need extra help. In summer is easy to go out to run, but in winter is not that easy; that is why I have a treadmill in my house and I recommend you to get one. Make things simple and avoid excuses to beat any obstacle.
