INTRODUCTION TO THE SAHASRARA CHAKRA.
All chakras are connected to specific areas and glands. We are not talking about a physical connection, but about an electromagnetic connection. The chakras are not physical lotus flowers or physical wheels. They are energetic centers, which bring energies from the universe to our body and more specifically to our endocrine glands and their areas.
THE SAHASRARA CHAKRA AND THE SEROTONIN EFFECT!
WebMD has a great article related to this subject:
"What role does serotonin play in our health?
As a neurotransmitter, serotonin helps to relay messages from one area of the brain to another. Because of the widespread distribution of its cells, it is believed to influence a variety of psychological and other body functions. Of the approximately 40 million brain cells, most are influenced either directly or indirectly by serotonin. This includes brain cells related to mood, sexual desire and function, appetite, sleep, memory and learning, temperature regulation, and some social behavior.
In terms of our body function, serotonin can also affect the functioning of our cardiovascular system, muscles, and various elements in the endocrine system. Researchers have also found evidence that serotonin may play a role in regulating milk production in the breast, and that a defect within the serotonin network may be one underlying cause of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome)."
Here is another important question on the same article:
"What is the link between serotonin and depression?
There are many researchers who believe that an imbalance in serotonin levels may influence mood in a way that leads to depression. Possible problems include low brain cell production of serotonin, a lack of receptor sites able to receive the serotonin that is made, inability of serotonin to reach the receptor sites, or a shortage in tryptophan, the chemical from which serotonin is made. If any of these biochemical glitches occur, researchers believe it can lead to depression, as well as obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, panic, and even excess anger."

I think this is enough to understand the importance of this chakra and this gland. Working on each chakra is important because then you are affecting the endocrine glands and therefore your health.
INTRODUCTION TO THE AJNA CHAKRA.
Vibration affects everything, so when we make the Ajna Chakra to vibrate in a higher frequency then we affect the chakra in a very positive way. This vibration affects in a very direct way the pituitary gland. Why is this important?
THE AJNA CHAKRA AND THE PITUITARY GLAND.
"The pituitary gland and the hypothalamus – a part of the interbrain – both control the involuntary nervous system, which manages the balance of energy, heat and water in the body. Body temperature, heart beat or the amount of urine are all regulated this way, for example, and so are sleep, hunger and thirst. The pituitary gland also produces a series of hormones that either control most of the other hormone glands in the body or have a direct effect on specific organs."
If you would like to read the whole article please click here: How does the pituitary gland work?
As you can see working on the pituitary gland (Chakra Ajna) brings many benefits. Let me emphasize the idea that the pituitary gland << manages the balance of energy. >> That simple yet strong affirmation is enough to understand the importance of this gland. Why? Remember: Our true nature is energy. Please read my article: Yoga health: Mind, soul and energy! (Link at the bottom).
Well, if we are energy and everything is energy then energy is the most important thing ever. Actually we get sick because of imbalance in our energies. This imbalance has several causes. One is the way of life we have; it is far from being natural. We break the rules of nature almost daily.
If we recover this balance in our energies then health will come back to us in a natural way. It is simple as that. Nevertheless, we need to learn how to live properly; that includes eating properly, doing exercise, practicing yoga and meditation.
This is why yoga is so powerful. Yoga goes deep down into our inner energies. The chakras are part of our inner energetic system. One day, soon I hope, science will be able to detect this energetic system. It was known to all ancient civilizations.
Right now, the matter is to understand the need to work with the Ajna chakra to affect the pituitary gland.
As you can see working on the chakras is not just a matter of relaxing and enjoying do9ing it; but actually it is a powerful way to improve our health.
Remember: You have to check with your doctor. They know much better about the function of the endocrine glands than me. They will explain you better and they know what they do.
