STRESS AND TECHNOLOGY.
Technology is a need in modern times because of the system of life we have created. Nevertheless, we have to be careful about using too much tech! Did any great Master use technology? How were they able to achieve higher levels of spirituality or conscience?
Is it possible that technology can help us to do yoga and/or meditation?
CAN TECHNOLOGY HELP US TO DO YOGA AND/OR MEDITATION?
Technology, in modern times, is everywhere and people want to use it for everything. One of those methods to use technology to understand meditation and/or yoga is the internet. How far can internet go to help us to achieve higher levels of conscience?
Well, there are a few things to consider about that. Technology has effects on our behavior and way to think. Take for example that many people are imitating what others do because they saw, on the internet, a video about it. That is called “Herd Behavior.”
People tend to imitate others, specially famous or powerful people. There is a subconscious desire to be like those people. Technology, in that case, is making clones. People say they want to be original, but most of the time they want to imitate other people’s behavior.
Meditation has a very specific goal: Inner Silence. That is the ability to control our mind and go beyond it. But, having too much information does the opposite. When a person wants to meditate then all that information comes to his/her mind. So now he/she has a busy mind trying to remembering things and fighting the Inner silence.
Technology is useful and we need it. We need to grab information that we need. Nevertheless, we tend to accumulate information that we do not need. That information is like garbage. It takes memory space and we all know what happen to a computer when it has not enough space. Yes, it becomes slow, really slow. Believe it or not it is happening in modern brains.
We have to say again that we need technology, but we need to know how to use it and avoid abusing it!
YOGA, TABLETS, COMPUTERS AND CELL PHONES!
First, we need time for our practices, so we cannot be slave of technology. We cannot depend on anything because we want to be free. Yoga and meditation are about searching real freedom beyond any limitation. Happiness without freedom is not happiness. Slavery of any kind is slavery and therefore it takes your freedom and happiness.
Yes, you need to be connected to the world as much as you really need it. Nevertheless, many people use all tablets, computers and cell phones too much. People are walking while texting. How can they enjoy life? No, they do not enjoy life; that is not life. Yes, I know some times we need to do that; but not all the time. You have to discover by yourself how much is enough.
It is nice to be disconnected from the world. We all need to be alone with a nice music and deep into our practices of meditation or yoga. There is no need to bring everywhere that dependency. It is nice to disconnect the phone for a while and let life go through without interruptions.
You can enjoy your electronic devices when it is the time for it and enjoy your meditation and yoga when it is time for it.
The matter is not to give up those devices; but to learn when and how to use them properly.
The mind and the soul need peace, especially inner peace. Go away to the mountain, to a park, to a nice beach and forget a bit about all this technology. If you cannot then you are slave of it. It is time to balance your life and to have real free time. It is time to have time for yourself.
The same way we cannot eat everything you cannot get everything. Getting too much food is not good for the body. Getting too much technology is not good for the mind and the soul.
Is there any device that can help us to meditate or do yoga?
DEVICES FOR YOGA AND/OR MEDITATION.
Computers, tablets and cell phones can storage music and guided meditation or a video clip of yoga. Then we can use all that to practice. Yes, they can help.
Guided meditation is great, but nothing better than having a real person who guides the meditation. On the other hand, the person who guides the meditation can lead you properly and find out better ways to help you to improve your practice. A recording machine cannot guide you in the sense it cannot see you what you are doing and it cannot evaluate your progress.
A ball chair can help you to do yoga and relax. Treadmills and elliptical machines are for exercising and fitness, but a balance life requires going beyond yoga and meditation. Life is too stressful and therefore we need to exercise too.
All devices are good as far as you need them, but you cannot depend on them. You can have them in your home or in the gym; but you cannot carry them all over.
One important factor is this: Everything is energy and everything vibrates. The vibration of nature is the best and not machine can give you that. It does not mean you cannot use them, it means nature is the best.
PLEASE KEEP IN YOUR MIND THAT YOGA IS A WAY TO CONNECT YOURSELF WITH NATURE.
CHRONOMETER FOR YOGA AND OR MEDITATION?
We need to be organized and set everything on the right place. Yoga and meditation are not an exception. Therefore we need to practice them on the right time and as long as possible according to our need and "TIME FOR THE PRACTICE."
How can a chronometer help me? Yes, we can program the chronometer for the time we need. It could be 30 minutes or one hour or even more. It depends on your time.
When we are practicing we are not supposed to be thinking of the time; but we need to do something else after the practice, so we need to know how more time we have for it. Right? The solution is so simple: You program the chronometer and forget about time. Just relax, do your practice and then when the time is over the chronometer will tell you.
You can use a cell phone, for example. Then you use chronometer and set your time. You can program it to play a song or some music when the time is over. It is great because you can even use the same cell phone to play a nice music when you are practicing. Then when the time comes the cell phone will play the specific music when the chronometer reach the final second. So when that happens you can even relax a few minutes without any hurry.
yes, sometimes your mind will ask yourself if the time is almost over, but your task is to forget about time and just practice until the time is over.
Yes, you do not need to use a cell phone. it could be another device that manage time. The matter is to do your practice without worries.
This is a very simple technique and a nice way to use technology to enjoy our practice without worry of the time.
TECHNOLOGY, THE MIND AND MEDITATION.
Technology brings some good things to the mind and some problems too. Thanks to technology we can access information at any time and wherever we are. That is such a great thing. Especially for education and/or our jobs. On the other side, too much information can lead to confusion. Who should we believe? Some authors say something and others say the opposite! Well, we have to open our mind to different ideas and we need to be smart enough to pick up the proper information. Nevertheless, having too much information on our head is not necessarily useful.What do I mean?
Meditation is really deep. some people use it for healthy purposes. They love relaxing and feeling better. The feeling of a relaxed body is so great. it is really worthy, plus it takes stress away from us, which is a silent killer. Meditation is a lot more than just relaxing. Actually, the latter is just a step to get into meditation. Meditation is possible only and after we reach the physical body relaxation.
The really purpose of meditation is to achieve enlightenment. It is a state beyond the thoughts of our mind. A person willing to achieve that state should control the mind. That task is not easy for a beginner. In fact, a beginner cannot achieve that state. it will take a long time and many practices to do so.
Controlling the mind requires a mental discipline. A mind full of information is hard to tame. A simple mind is easy to tame. This is why kids learn meditation quicker and easier than adults. The infant mind is simple.
Having too much information is not good for meditation. The mind gets slower when it has too much information. This happens to computers too. A new computer is fast because it has not too much data, but when it gets a lot of data then it gets slower than in the beginning.
A person who wants to achieve enlightenment should avoid having too much information or, that person, most learn how to deal with it. Please, here again I should repeat that we need technology, but we need to be aware of all this too.
Modern life is so different and we need to deal with technology and information. What could be our life without it? We should not go back in time; rather we need to take advantage of this great gift called "TECHNOLOGY." We have to be smart enough to learn how to deal with it.
TECHNOLOGY, YOGA AND NATURE.
Nature itself has all the resources we need to live healthy and longer. The more natural you eat and live the healthier life you will have and therefore you will live longer.
Technology is wonderful and we need to take advantage of it; but its power is limited. Technology itself cannot exist; it really needs the sources of nature. A computer, for example, is marvelous; but it takes the energy from electricity; but the latter comes from hydroelectric power stations. In other words, electricity depends on the fluid of water (Natural source) coming out form a power station. This means all the power of the computers and technology (In general) depends on water, which is a natural source.
Technology itself cannot work. It depends on that wonderful natural source called "WATER." Technology will get better and faster, but it will always depend of a natural source. There are other natural sources such as the Solar Power or Oil (Petroleum), but they do not forget they are natural sources.
Nothing is better than nature and we all most love Mother nature. It has everything we need. We can use some technology to do yoga and/or meditation, but the more natural it is the better for us.
Yoga is really old and the ancient Masters did no use all the tech we have today. The only thing they used for their practices were the inner natural sources. Therefore, we should be moderated on the use of modern devices and we cannot depend on them.
