HEALTH: EXERCISES AND PRANA.
Exercising is a good way to get rip off stress. Yoga and meditation are wonderful, but combining them with exercises makes your day easy and your life healthier. Exercise, yoga and meditation can improve your life a lot. The best exercises are cardio. Why?
The matter is that cardio exercising push the body to breathe more and then the body (As well as the brain, the heart and all organs) get extra prana.
Prana is the primordial energy within each atom. Prana is really important for our life. Here is where combining exercise with yoga and meditation gets interesting.
Let us explain the why it is so important to do exercise and the great benefits of combining exercises with yoga and meditation.
PRANA, EXERCISE AND HEALTH.
When we breathe properly then we get extra prana, the same happens when we do exercise. This is one of the reasons why exercising is so vital.
Yogis know the importance of breathing. That importance comes from the prana. Prana brings health to the whole body. Prana goes to every organ of the body and it (being energy) vitalizes all those organs.
Our body needs action and having a very passive life is not healthy. All cardio exercises push the body to breathe more and this brings more prana, more vitality and therefore more health.
Pranayamas, the science of breathing, vitalize your body because you are breathing longer and because of that you are bringing more prana into your body. This is basically what you do when you do exercise. One of the differences is that exercising makes the body to get into action and pranayamas are more passive.
RUN FOR HEALTH OR RUN FOR FUN, BUT RUN!
Yes, New York is beautiful. It has everything you need. You can find any kind of food in New York City, plus it has many parks and you will find the Niagara Falls going to up state. The Big Apple has many places where to do yoga, meditation (Including Central Park) and exercising. The city that never sleeps has THE MARATHON OF NEW YORK too. So, there is not any excuse to have a passive life in the city. New York always rocks!
Central Park has always people doing exercise, yoga and meditation. Actually, in summer many people just go to get a tan and have some relaxation. But running there is a really nice pleasure. The trees, the people, the whole environment is amazing.
The matter, wherever you are, is to run for health or for fun, but run. I know there are some days when you really do not feel like it; but think about your health. It is ok to have a break one in a while, but exercising should be a discipline and a way to develop will. Nothing can be done without will, so train your will by doing exercises as often as possible.
The body really needs it. It will thank you a lot. Some people do not like going outside to run and in winter time it might not be so nice; but then you have treadmills, elliptical machines, etc to help you to do exercises indoor. I have a treadmill and I run four or five times a week. One feels really nice after exercising!
We will talk later about some nice combinations of exercising with yoga and meditation.
KEEP YOUNG WITH YOGA AND EXERCISES!
It is sad to see old people who cannot walk properly. Is age the reason? Is it because the body has to decay and we cannot stop that process. Well, actually, we cannot stop it; but we can reduce the speed of getting older as quick as regular people do.
The body will decay as everything else. There is no doubt about. Nevertheless, doing exercising we can keep our body in shape. Exercises, yoga and meditation can help us to do so. We do not need to get old so quick. There are many examples of people who keep doing exercises or yoga and look younger than they really are.
This is a great example: 101-year-old marathon runner retires
You really do not need to get old so soon. Keep your body young doing exercising; so you can feel better and live better, healthier and longer. Please, note that the idea is not just to live longer, but with physical strength and flexibility. Do not let your body to decay quickly.
If you stopped form doing exercise, then you can rehabilitate and recover your strength and flexibility. it might take time, but it is worthy.
I had this student who was around 45 years old, but he stopped doing exercises for more than 10 years. He was not able to run any longer, at least for more than a few minutes. He wanted to recover the ability to run. I told him: "IF YOU WANT YOU CAN!"
So, we started with really basic asanas and after a few weeks we added running for three minutes. He was "running" on a treadmill at a very low speed. Actually, he was just walking a bit fast. We kept the basic asanas. Then we added time to his exercises up to five minutes. Yes, it was so and it was hard for him. I know he was not old, but his physical body was older than his age. Later we added some other asanas and we added speed and we kept doing this for a few months. One day, he was so happy because he was able to run to a normal speed again. Now he runs periodically and he does some asanas almost every day. I really feel happy for him.
Anyone can do it, but it is important to talk to a doctor and to get someone who know how to deal with this situation, someone with experience on the field. Results are different in every person because we all are different. Some people might get back to regular exercises in a few months, others might take longer.
I recommend treadmills and elliptical machines because I have seen the results. Those machines are really great. Nevertheless, it is important to have a proper advice on how to start and do exercises if you are just starting.
Please do not let your body to get old automatically. You can keep your body strong if you doubt, please check this out:

YOGA, EXERCISES AND NUTRITION.
Our body needs to put to work all its functions to do everything better. Sometimes people wake up in zombie mood. That state does not help to take decisions or to do anything properly. The body needs to be totally awakened to do anything. Exercises, yoga and a refreshing shower do that job.
How and what can we do?
A gym is a good solution. Right there you can run for 10 to 15 minutes then do some stretching exercises or yoga for 10 to 15 minutes and then you finish taking a shower. It is so simple, but it is really great. No gym then no problem. Just get a nice machine to help you out. It could be a treadmill or an elliptical machine. They help you to get your body in shape.
What yoga could I do after exercising? You might consider the yoga asanas given on my article: Yoga tips and techniques for beginners (link at the bottom).
If possible, it depends on how much time you have, do some pranayamas to boost your energy. A pranayama properly done can vitalize the body instantly.
It is important to have someone to guide you, especially in the beginning. A person without experience could hurt himself/herself.
Nutrition is really important too. Our body needs to have the best energy possible in order to work properly. If we are doing exercises then nutrition becomes an essential part of keeping your body in shape, your mind sharp, and your soul bright.
All you eat has to have a great nutritional value. The body will take out everything that is not good for you and it will keep everything that is good for you, which becomes part of you. All that you are eating is energy and you are energy too. At the end the food you eat and you become one.
I will add a section about basic knowledge and tips of nutrition. So we can talk more about this interesting subject, which so vital for our health.
MEDITATION AND EXERCISES.
We need a break from all activities and be able to go deep down into our own self! Life makes you to focus on the external world and, obviously you need that. Nevertheless, you also need to discover your inner capabilities and that is possible through meditation.
The balance of life comes perfect when we do activities, such as exercises and yoga asanas, combining them with meditation.
Yes, you can develop all your physical strength and flexibility; but you need to get a bright mind and a strong soul.
Yoga is not completed without meditation and meditation is a great companion of exercises. Nothing is better than doing exercises, yoga, taking a shower after them and finally a nice meditation. Your whole body receives a tremendous amount of energy and vitality and your mind too.
Your brain works better in the calmness of meditation, but even better when meditation comes after exercising and/or yoga.
When you have too much mental work or worries or problems then your mind is too complicated and distracted with all that. Meditation in such state is not possible; you must do some exercises before meditating in order to get the best results out from meditation.
Yoga and meditation are really great; but exercising is a lot better to get rip off stress in a very quick way. I have to emphasize that I am taking about cardio exercises; but lifting weight is great too.
When the body is too stressed then cardio exercises take off all that tension quickly. Then you are ready for meditation.
Some people think they can meditate under stress, but they are wrong. The first thing you have to do is to get rip off that stress then you are ready for meditation.
I recommend doing pranayamas when meditating, that is what I always do and that combination works wonderful, especially after exercising.
I hope this article is of value to you all. I think we can take the best form yoga, meditation and exercising; but remember: YOU NEED ACTION AND REST, IT IS YOGA/EXERCISING AND MEDITATION.
