We all are humans, not machines. Sometimes, we need to take a break from everything; that includes thinking. People think too much and that is not healthy. Over thinking does not solve a problem, being worry does not help. Did you ever think that thinking too much is one of the causes of some sicknesses?
ALZHEIMER DISEASE (AD) IS INCREASING!
"Ten percent of Americans over 65 years of age (5.1 million individuals) suffer from Alzheimer's disease (AD). By 2050, aging baby boomers will cause that number to reach 16 million!
AD first presents with forgetfulness but soon develops into a more severe and debilitating disorder including: confusion, personality changes, anxiousness, irritability, and severe memory and intellectual disturbances. Eventually patients no longer function normally."
It is really important to be informed. So, please feel free to read the whole article: Alzheimer's disease.
Modern science is moving forward and I bet it will discover the real cause of AD sooner or later. In the mean while we should take care of our mind and there are a few things to do so.
Exercising and yoga are great to keep our body and mind healthy; but meditation is the best for our mind.
MIND AND MEDITATION.
Vacations are wonderful. You feel recharged after it and you feel like you can go back to regular life. The problem is: We cannot take vacations too often. so we need another alternative.
Yoga and exercises help a lot too. Nevertheless, we need a mental break. Here is when meditation comes to the rescue. We need to learn to focus on something different! The mind can be trained to focus on other things rather than problems and worries. Yes, it takes time, but it really pays!
Over thinking can causes some sicknesses; but relaxing the body and the mind do the opposite. Relaxation brings health. The more we relax the mind the more healthy our mind becomes.
The mind tends to think negative things. The Bhagavad Gita states that the mind is like the water: It tends to fall down. It is its nature. That great book adds that the mind can be a friend or an enemy. A friend when we control it, but an enemy when it controls us.
There are several techniques to learn to concentrate to avoid thinking too much; please read my article: Relaxation and concentration: How to develop them! (Link at the bottom).
The mind is so stubborn that it goes over and over to the same problem again and again. How can anyone be happy with a mind so stubborn? People tired of being worry do not want to think of the problems anymore, but the mind does not care and the person cannot stop from thinking.
Learning to control the mind takes a lot of practices. it does not come overnight; but it comes for the person willing to pay the price.
It is important to point out that Meditation or any relaxation technique is to prevent a brain damage or sickness; but if a person need a doctor than he/she most see a doctor.
The idea is simple: The brain needs a break to think less. Computers are so fast when they are new; but they get slower after a time. The reason? Too much data! The more data (Movies, music, files, etc.) you have in your computer the slower it gets. That happens to the brain: The more data it has the slower it becomes. This is why kids and teens think faster than adults and adults think faster than elders.
When a person gets into a deep meditation then the mind is freed from data and then he/she can think better and faster. The brain works better when there is not too much to think about.
Yes, we are in the XXI century and we need to think a lot. Well, actually you have to do what you have to do. The only thing we are saying here is that you need to take a break from thinking. The idea is not to stop thinking for ever. That is just not possible. But through meditation a person can take a break once the person had learned the technique properly.
A CHAOTIC MIND!
We all need to put some order on our mind. Thinking about having a better mind is not enough, we need action. that action is meditation. First thing first, so relaxing the body is the first step toward meditation. Nevertheless, we all need good ideas, good thoughts to work on.
We need to face this chaotic mind with great ideas and thoughts. This is why it is important to read good books. Nevertheless, meditation is the best to put order in our mind.
We need to have time for ourselves. Time to be alone and relax. Seat down in a peaceful area. A nice park is good. Enjoy nature and breath fresh air. Calm down, you are alive.
Society wants to make robots, but we have the right to be humans. Yes, we all our imperfections, but humans. With a heart pumping life to all our cells and atoms!
A chaotic mind does not help in life. Actually it creates tension and more problems. It brings confusion and disorder. The more we calm down the better for our mind and the better for our life.
We need to think properly! Do not take things for granted. Take a moment to think about all good things you have. Relax, there are many under really terrible problems. The chaotic mind wants you to believe you are done, you failed, you are not good enough, etc.
Relax, turn on the music and relax. Enjoy your favorite music, go to the gym, do some yoga, running helps a lot, meditation comes after all that and then breath slowly and deep.
Anxiety creates fear, but you can handle it. Do you need help? No problem, go to the doctor; but you can overcome your problems. We all need help sometimes because we are humans. What else can you expect? So, take it easy. do not let your chaotic mind to control you.
The first thing you need is to see the problem: The chaotic mind. Then you need to take action. Slow down. Do not rush? what for? You are supposed to know that the end of the road is death, so... What is the need to rush?
the more chaos a person has in his/her mind the more problems he/she has. The best deal is to calm down and think clearly before taking any decision. The chaotic mind will never help!
LIVING IN THE PRESENT!
We need to live in the present. Yes, we cannot avoid using our memory and it could be not smart to do so; we need memories. Yes, we can plan for the future, it could be really fool not to do so. Nevertheless, we have to find time for ourselves; time to enjoy life; time to enjoy a moment of peace and calmness; a moment to listen music and be transported to another world with it.
We need time to be humans and stop for a while these mechanical thoughts of this complex modern life. It is really important to find time for ourselves and our family. We need time to be in the present without thinking about the past or the future.
Being worry all the time is not life. We need to be free and happy. We need to be ourselves beyond all the tasks from the job or any responsibility. No, I do not mean to stop from working. I do not mean to forget responsibilities. But we need time to be free of everything; time to be away from technology, time to be away from the city!
Yes, go to the beach, to the park, to the mountain.... Yes, you are entitle to freedom from worries. Enjoy your life. Otherwise, you will regret sooner or later.
Being in the present means many things, but one for sure is: Enjoy your life free from the past and from the future.
Stop tormenting with old mistakes that are already gone. Stop suffering yourself with worries about the future; you really do not know what the future holds.
Meditation helps you to be in the present. You need to focus on what you are doing and you should enjoy it. Focus on something leads your mind to be present and not gone in the past or the future.
Being present while practicing brings control of the mind. The mind wants to think all the time and it runs toward the future or jumps into the past. Be present! focus on your practice and forget everything while you are practicing. Enjoy your life because you are a human being and not a machine.
Being in the present helps to free your mind from many thoughts and that brings health to your mind. over thinking does not help and it weakens your mind. It needs a rest and that is why sleeping is so important. yes, we think while sleeping; but it is in another way.
One day a Master was asked: "How can I live according to the Tao?"
He answered: "If you walk then walk. If you eat then eat."
Yes, if you do something then do it; but stop thinking anything else. People are eating and worry aobut something. then the body cannot get enough energy from the food. Relax, enjoy your food. Taste it! While do you eat like if you are not able to enjoy your food.
Walk and enjoy while walking. Stop form thinking about all those problems. Keep the faith and think that things will be better sooner or later. Enjoy your life and develop hope. Work on being more optimistic.
Check how the mind moves form the past to the present. Be aware of it, then learn to be present to enjoy your life.
The more worry you are the less able to fix problems you become. When th emiond is relax the mind thinks better. A nice walk or a beautiful music can help you more than being worry.
L:ife might not bring everything you want; but it does not mean you cannot be happy. Of course, you can enjoy life because real happiness and real peace come form within!
